I remained obsessed with French cinema from the 1950s and stumbled across this clip while trolling YouTube. I find it interesting that with the contentious relationship between France and the United States no other country has embraced the quintessential American musical idiom of Jazz quite like the French. The syncopation and freewheeling nature of Jazz infuses the spirit of the New Wave so thoroughly that I cannot separate the two. Seeing this clip again makes that all the more evident.
